Quick Answer: Costco sells two very different things under the “hot tub” banner: rotomolded hard-shell plug-and-play spas from Aquaterra (made by Watkins, the Hot Spring maker) and Evolution by Strong Spas at $2,999.99-$4,599.99, plus a seasonal SaluSpa inflatable/foam tub at $499.99-$749.99. The best pick for most buyers is the Aquaterra Benicia 20-jet at $2,999.99 — the cheapest and highest-rated plug-and-play spa on Costco.com (4.5 stars, 472 member reviews on October 28, 2026). Know the catch before you order: on a 115V outlet, Watkins’ own manual says the heater gives only about 1,000 watts and switches off when the jets run on high, and Costco delivers to the curb only.

Costco is a hot tub store many buyers never think to check — and a confusing one, because its “Plug-n-Play” label covers 300-gallon hard-shell spas weighing up to 425 lbs empty, not just the inflatable tubs that phrase usually means. This guide sorts the whole lineup by what actually runs on a household outlet, then walks through the fine print on heating, delivery, warranty and returns that the product pages bury below the fold.

The best Costco hot tubs, picked

1. Aquaterra Benicia 20-jet, 4-person — Best Costco hot tub overall

Best value · 4 people · 20 jets · 205 gallons · 110V · $2,999.99
  • Cheapest plug-and-play hard-shell spa on Costco.com and the highest-rated, at 4.5 stars from 472 members.
  • Full-foam insulation, multi-color LED light and a cascading waterfall; the bundle adds a Weatherwise thermal locking cover and steps.
  • 61 x 70 x 32 in. and 270 lbs dry — small enough for a patio, light enough for three or four people to carry from the curb.
  • Its owner's manual covers both 115V and 230V operation, so it can be rewired to 230V later for full heater output.

The Benicia is the one Costco hot tub we’d recommend without a “but”: it’s the lowest price of the rotomolded group, it has the strongest member rating of any Costco spa with more than 100 reviews, and its 205-gallon size is the easiest of the Aquaterra group to heat on 1,000 watts. It’s also only about $300 more than the AquaRest DISCOVER Standard 150 ($2,699 direct from AquaRest), while bringing 20 jets against the AquaRest’s 12.

2. Aquaterra Brighton 26-jet, 5-6 person — Best for families

Best for 5-6 people · 26 jets · 264 gallons · 110V · $3,999.99
  • The largest Aquaterra that still plugs into a household outlet, with a 2-speed pump, adjustable waterfall and bottom drain.
  • Most-reviewed Aquaterra plug-and-play spa: 4.4 stars from 532 Costco members.
  • Bundle includes the Weatherwise thermal locking cover and steps.
  • Watch the heat-up: 264 gallons on roughly 1,000 W is the slowest warm-up of the Aquaterra group on 110V.

3. Aquaterra Montara 25-jet, 4-person — Best lounger deal

Best for lounging · 4 people · 25 jets · 233 gallons · 110V · $3,299.99 on sale
  • The only 4-person Costco spa with a full lounge seat, including calf and foot jets.
  • Ozone water care, adjustable waterfall, cover and steps included.
  • Costco lists a "1/4kw heater" — most likely shorthand for the manual's 1 kW on 110V / 4 kW on 230V, not a quarter-kilowatt heater.
  • 81 x 63 x 33 in., so measure: it's 11 inches longer than the Benicia.

4. Evolution by Strong Spas Rockport 27-jet, 6-7 person — Biggest plug-and-play

Best for big groups · up to 7 people · 27 stainless jets · 300 gallons · 120V · $4,599.99
  • Seats up to 7 with a lounger, built-in ice bucket, two waterfalls and EOS ozone.
  • Lifetime shell and structure warranty plus 2 years on equipment, plumbing and labor, per Evolution's own rotomolded-spa warranty — the strongest coverage in this guide.
  • 425 lbs dry and 74.5 x 74.5 x 32 in. — plan the move from the curb before it arrives.
  • The Evolution Adventure ($3,999.99 on sale, was $4,599.99) shares the same 300-gallon, 425-lb footprint with 32 jets but rates lower, at 3.9 stars from 112 members.

Be realistic about 300 gallons on a household outlet. Costco’s listing doesn’t publish the Rockport’s heater wattage, so we can’t run its exact numbers — but any 120V heater limited by a 15-20 amp circuit is working against roughly 2,500 lbs of water, and reheating after a long, jets-on-high soak with seven people in it will be slow.

5. SaluSpa Carrara 6-person AirJet Foam Spa — Best cheap Costco hot tub

Best budget pick · 4-6 people · 140 AirJets · 225 gallons · 120V/12A · $749.99
  • ThermaCore foam walls with a 3-layer Tritech outer liner — sturdier and better insulated than a standard air-wall inflatable, per Bestway.
  • Wi-Fi control through the Bestway Connect app, Freeze Shield, and a heater timer you can set up to 40 days ahead.
  • Ships with the cover, 4 pillows, a ChemConnect dispenser, a filter and a repair patch; "threshold delivery" puts it inside your front door or garage.
  • Model 6002HE draws 12 amps at 120V and meets the APSP-14/Title 20 efficiency rules required for sale in states including California and New York.

The Carrara is the only Costco tub in the inflatable price class that was actually in stock online when we checked; the classic SaluSpa Laguna AirJet ($499.99) was listed but out of stock, which fits Costco’s pattern of carrying inflatables mainly in spring and summer. If you’re comparing it with the SaluSpa Miami or the Intex PureSpa Plus, see our best inflatable hot tub and Coleman SaluSpa guides.

The 1,000-watt catch on Costco’s “Plug-n-Play” spas

“Plug-n-Play” at Costco means the spa ships with a GFCI cord you plug into a wall — it doesn’t mean the spa performs the same as a hardwired one. Watkins’ owner’s manual for Aquaterra’s 115V/230V spas spells out the tradeoff:

Before you convert, read the warranty: Watkins lists “electrical conversion” among the alterations that void coverage unless you have Watkins’ prior written consent. Call Watkins at (888) 961-7727 and get the approval in writing first. Our hot tub wiring guide covers what a 230V circuit costs to add, and our hot tub keeps tripping breaker guide is the place to start if a shared 15-amp circuit is cutting out.

Delivery, warranty and returns: the fine print

Three things in that fine print matter more than the jet count:

  1. The curb is where Costco’s job ends. The hard-shell listings say the driver offloads the spa “to the curb at the end of your driveway,” drivers don’t bring it into the house or garage or help unpack, and Costco “is not responsible for moving the hot tub after delivery.” At 244-425 lbs dry, that means three or four helpers or a heavy-duty dolly — our how to move a hot tub guide covers the technique.
  2. Pick the final spot before delivery day. Both Aquaterra and Evolution void the warranty if the spa is moved away from the original ship-to address, and Watkins’ warranty is non-transferable. Have a level base ready — a hot tub pad or a slab — and check your deck’s weight limit if it’s going on wood.
  3. Returns exist, but they’re curbside too. Costco.com items can go back to any of Costco’s 800-plus warehouses, and the listings cite Costco’s 100% satisfaction guarantee “with some exceptions and limitations.” For a spa, the listing says return shipping is a “curbside pick up as delivered” — so you drain it, dry it and get it back to the curb yourself.

Costco vs. Amazon and Home Depot: what you actually save

Costco’s hard-shell spas don’t undercut the field on sticker price — the Benicia at $2,999.99 costs more than AquaRest’s 12-jet DISCOVER Standard 150 at $2,699, and sits just below Lifesmart’s LS350DX at roughly $3,199-$3,299. Where Costco can come out ahead is extras: more jets per dollar, a cover and steps bundled in, and membership rewards. Costco membership costs $65 a year (Gold Star) or $130 (Executive), and the Executive tier’s 2% annual reward works out to about $60 back on a $2,999.99 Benicia. Hard-shell spas also discount most in the fall and winter off-season — our hot tub deals guide covers when to buy and how to spot a padded “was” price. If you’d rather avoid the membership and the curbside haul, these are the closest 110V alternatives:

AquaRest DISCOVER Standard 150 (formerly AR-150 Select)

Closest rival to the Benicia · 4 people · 12 jets · 120V · around $2,699
  • Roto-molded, 120V plug-and-play — the same construction class as Costco's Aquaterra line.
  • Fewer jets than the Benicia (12 vs. 20), but about $300 cheaper and no membership needed.

Lifesmart LS350DX

Rival to the Brighton · 5 people · 28 jets · 115V · roughly $3,199-$3,299
  • Full-foam insulation, ozonator and a Weatherwise thermal locking cover — the same cover brand Costco bundles with Aquaterra.
  • More jets than the Brighton for less money, with one fewer seat.

Intex PureSpa Plus

Rival to the SaluSpa Carrara · 4 people · 140 bubble jets · 120V · around $500-$600
  • A true inflatable with a built-in hard-water system — cheaper than the Carrara and usually in stock on Amazon outside the summer rush too.
  • Drains and folds flat for winter, unlike Costco's hard shells.

Whichever tub you buy, you’ll need the same first-week supplies — a hot tub chemical starter kit and test strips. See our chemical starter kit picks for what’s worth buying.

Who should buy a hot tub at Costco

The bottom line

Costco’s hot tub aisle is really a plug-and-play hard-shell aisle: seven rotomolded spas from Aquaterra (Watkins) and Evolution (Strong Spas) between $2,999.99 and $4,599.99, plus a SaluSpa or two for the inflatable crowd. The Aquaterra Benicia is the best value and the best-rated of them, the Brighton is the family pick, and the Evolution Rockport carries the best warranty if you need seven seats. Just go in knowing that “Plug-n-Play” means about 1,000 watts of heat that pauses whenever the jets run on high, that delivery stops at the curb, and that the warranty stays at the address it’s delivered to.
